Third Grade
Becca Evans
Hi, I am Becca Evans! I am super excited to be part of the 3rd grade team at CBES! I live in Gastonia with my fiancé and I love spending time with him and my soon-to-be stepdaughter. I earned both my B.S. in Elementary Education and my M.Ed. in Learning Design and Technology from Winthrop University. My wish for my students is simple: have fun, be kind, and learn something new every day. I am looking forward to a wonderful school year!
Kristy Melton
My name is Kristy Melton! I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from the University of South Carolina and (fun fact!) also hold an Associate Degree in Automotive Technology. During my education program, I completed my internship in 3rd and 4th grades at CBES and I am so excited to be back in a school that feels like home! My passion for teaching comes from a lifelong love of learning and a desire to be a positive role model who makes a meaningful difference in students’ lives. Outside of school, I’m a big foodie who loves sushi, traveling, crafting, and spending time with friends and family.

Ashley Cherry (Assistant)
I am so excited to be joining third grade this year at Cotton Belt! This will be my second year at the school. I am very grateful to be a part of the YSD1 family. When I'm not in school, you will find me spending time with my kids or on my front porch bird watching. I love to go camping and love anything Halloween! My husband and I have been married 18 years and have 3 kids and a Great Dane named Boone. I can’t wait to see what the year holds!
