School Leadership
Megan Hoyt - Principal
I was born and raised in the York community and attended schools within the district from Kindergarten through graduation. Because of my incredible experiences here, I feel honored to have the profound opportunity to serve our students, staff, and community. Each day, I look forward to partnering with such a strong and dedicated staff to provide our students with high-quality and individualized learning experiences that will equip them for success and prepare them to make a positive impact in the future. I am a graduate of both Winthrop University and the University of South Carolina, where I received my Master of Education degree in Educational Leadership. I previously held the role of art teacher at both Hunter Street and Jefferson Elementary schools, and I also served as the Assistant Principal at Hunter Street Elementary and Jefferson Elementary. I enjoy living in the country quiet of Hickory Grove, and I love spending time with my husband, two children, and our dogs.
Heather Montgomery - Assistant Principal
It is an honor and privilege to be the assistant principal of Cotton Belt Elementary School. I began my career in education in 2000 after graduating from Winthrop University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education. As a York native, I wanted to give back to my community and educational system that helped shape me. I taught for 14 years at Hickory Grove-Sharon Elementary in various grade levels ranging from second, fourth and sixth as well as special education. While teaching, I earned a Master’s degree from Columbia College in Divergent Learning and another Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University. I became the assistant principal at Jefferson Elementary in 2014, before moving to Cotton Belt in 2021.
My husband, Kevin and I live in McConnells with our sons Larson and Jackson along with our three dogs. I enjoy watching baseball, spending time with my family, and traveling.
